20 Years On, the Height of Ambition: “Madee” Chookiat Sakveerakul

Looking back 20 years, “Madee” Chookiat Sakveerakul made his debut as a director and screenwriter with his first theatrically released feature, “Pisaj” (2004), followed by “13: Game of Death” (2006), whose remake rights were bought for a Hollywood version titled 13 Sins (2014), and “The Love of Siam” (2007), which swept Best Picture awards at every award ceremony that year. He also went on to direct “Home: Love, Happiness, Memories” (2012), “Grean Fiction” (2013), and “Dew” (2019).

It’s not just directing — Chookiat has also contributed as a screenwriter on notable films such as “Body #19” (2007), directed by Paween Purijitpanya and co-written with Ekasit Thairat, who previously worked with him on “13: Game of Death,” as well as “Inhuman Kiss” (2019), directed by Sitisiri Mongkolsiri.
