Every Beginning Must Have an End: The Final Trailer for Taklee Genesis, from Director Madiew Chookiat

When every journey brings about a cosmic-scale change — between Stella’s mission to save her father from another time dimension, or the collapse of the universe itself — which will happen first? Watch the final trailer for the sci-fi film of the year, Taklee Genesis, the most ambitious work yet from director Mudee-Chookiat Sakveerakul.

Taklee Genesis is the story set during the Vietnam War: the American military built a large communications station at Ramasun Camp, said to be a site for testing faster-than-light travel, under the project name Taklee Genesis.

Stella (Paula Taylor), a single mother whose life is at a turning point, receives a call from Ith (Peter Corp Dyrendal), her childhood friend, asking her to come back and take care of Duangporn (Jenjira Phongphat), her seriously ill mother, in Don Hai village — the place she left as a child, carrying terrible memories of having witnessed her father’s mysterious disappearance in the forbidden forest, though no one ever believed her. Thirty years later, Stella returns home with Valen (Nina-Natcha Jessica Padovan), her daughter who is trying to prove herself to her mother. In Don Hai, Stella also meets Chamnun (Phutharit Phrombandan), the community leader, and Kong (War-Wanarat Rasameerat), his son — both of whom, incredibly, look no different than they did 30 years ago.

One night, Stella receives contact from her father again, through an old two-way radio. Even though 30 years have passed on her side, only 30 minutes have passed where her father is. Stella is determined to bring her father back to the present-day world — her mission is to go back and switch on the Taklee Genesis machine once again. And that is the beginning of an adventure spanning from the past to the future, across a span of a thousand years.
