Director Pom Puttipong Opens Up His World of Imagination: From Two Icons, Jim Morrison and Laem Morrison, to the Film MORRISON

Neramitnung Film and Shinesaeng Ad.Venture release the full trailer for MORRISON, a drama film starring Hugo Chakrabongse, Kitty Chicha Amatayakul, Joe Cummings, and Sahatchai Chumrum, directed by Puttipong Aroonpheng. The story takes audiences through the light, color, sound, and nostalgia of Jimmy, a young Thai-American man who must travel to the “Paradise Hotel,” the one place that plunges him into a flood of memories and longing for someone.

Puttipong Aroonpheng, the director behind the acclaimed Manta Ray (2018), shared the inspiration behind this film, saying: “Going back 4-5 years, while doing post-production on Manta Ray, my first film, I had the chance to take my 11-month-old daughter on my first work trip to Paris. We stayed near Père Lachaise Cemetery, where I found the grave of ‘Jim Morrison,’ lead singer of The Doors. I felt so excited, thrilled, and a real sense of connection.”

In 2015, I had the chance to talk with Laem Morrison, a guitarist here in Thailand, and around that time I wanted to make a film about him. Before writing this project, I traveled to Udon Thani to do research. While I was there, there was an art exhibition at Camp Ramasun (an American military base built in Thailand during the Vietnam War). MORRISON might be a way for me to revisit my own memories, tied to certain personal interests.

MORRISON is set to hit cinemas on 11 April. Watch the trailer at www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ymcrPxp_74 and www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzbgKR-7y4M
